How do I use and modify the Home Screen?
The OptimumU and Fitness Scores are displayed in the colored orb. The more green the orb becomes the better the score. The more red the orb becomes, the worse the score. The lowest and highest score for the user is displayed below the orb. The average OptimumU Score for the user’s cohort group is also shown. The scores are on a scale from 0-100.
The number of points that have changed from the prior day added/subtracted is displayed in the center below the orb.
Information on what goes into the Fitness Score and the OptimumU Score can be found in two locations in the app. One in the Setting area and another located on the Home Screen within the circled information icons to the right of the scores.
The Fitness Score reflects the following: your daily steps throughout the day, Body Fat %, current BMI, your daily exercise minutes, sleep duration, mood for the day, Overall food quality during the day, VO2 max, your resting heart rate , waist circumference, daily alcohol consumption, your tobacco use, blood pressure, push-ups test and squat test. The values and data for the score can be manually inputted through the app (BMI and body fat % are calculated within the app) or through a device synced with the Apple Health Kit.
The OptimumU Score takes into consideration your Fitness Score along with lab results that you may get from your doctor or qualified lab technician such as Total Cholesterol, Cholesterol (HDL), Low-Density Lipoproteins (LDL), Triglycerides, Fasting Blood Glucose Levels, Glycated Hemoglobin (A1C) test, C-reactive protein (CRP) test, Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) test.
You can change the time scale for the OptimumU Score graph between weekly, monthly, and yearly. The graphed data can give you a visual representation of how you are doing over time and help you compare and correlate certain data points that are meaningful to you.
Extra Data lines can be overlaid on top of the graph. These data lines can be any one of the wellness metrics.
Below the OptimumU Score graph and data lines, there are Wellness Graphs. They visualize the wellness metrics that the app collects and measures – these are the biometric values captured over time that go into the scores such as Steps, Blood Pressure, Resting Heart Rate, etc… You can add as many or as few of these as they want to the Home Screen. You can edit which ones show by hitting “Edit Wellness Metric.” You can also customize the snapshot you see on your home screen by adding them to “Show on Home-screen.”
How do I use the Settings and Notifications?
Settings are located in the main menu.
Themes: User can choose a light or dark background effect from the app settings.
Notifications: The Notifications screen with nudge, tribe, challenge, and goal notifications is accessed by pressing the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Home Screen. You can control how you receive notification in the Settings area.
Notifications are listed in order of when they were posted with the newest at the top. Notifications can be cleared by pressing the small x in the upper right corner of each card or clicking the trash can icon in the upper right corner.
How do I add Data Manually?
When you elect to add data manually from the menu screen, you will see a list of criteria that can be added. The first 15 items are all related to your fitness score. When available these values are collected via nudges, calculated within the app or synced with Apples Health Kit. The the remaining 8 items are the values involved in the calculation of the OptimumU Score. Some of these values can be synchronized via the Apple Health Kit or you can add these values manually after a visit with your Doctor.
The Push-ups and Squats options will link to the assessments in the Workout feature of the app.
How do I use the Breathing Coach?
The main screen for the Breathing Coach includes options for different types of breathing coach sessions. The Tips and Instructions contain general tips for the Breathing Coach. The first session is a basic five seconds in and five seconds out session and lasts about two minutes. Keeping your belly soft on the exhale through your mouth and pulling your belly button in towards your spine on the inhale through your nose.
The second stress relieving session is a technique that involves three different styles of breath work, hold for a count of four, hold your breath for a count of seven, and breathe out for a count of eight. This session last about one minute.
What is included with the Workouts?
The main screen for workouts has two tabs, one for workouts and one for assessments. The Total Body and Legs and Glutes workouts have a second screen where you can select an intensity. Once an intensity level is selected, the exercises begin. The first page is the instructions for the workout level. Currently, All Core has only one level of intensity. You can view your workout summary after the completion animation where you will see each exercise in a list. It will tell you how many reps you completed or how long you held the position for non-rep exercises.
Assessments: The assessments tab has push-ups and squats. Each assessment has instructions and a field for you to enter the number of reps you completed. The assessment history lists your past assessments which include the number of reps and the date the assessment was completed. These assessments will factor into your fitness score either up or down and are recommended to be completed once per week.
How do I use the Gratitude Journal?
The Gratitude Journal section of the app contains the archive of your previous journal entries and the option to add a new journal entry. You can search journal entries by keyword. Journaling is also nudged each day to create a behavior of positivity and appreciation in your day.
What is the Time Machine and how do I use it?
The Time Machine feature has five options:
- OptimumU Score
For each option, the time machine will look back and find the optimum value for the variable selected (weight, sleep, mood, or OptimumU Score).
Example – if your optimum value of weight was on March 21, 2018. The time machine pulls data from the previous 90 days (Dec 31-March 20) on key performance indicators and lists them below. The key performance indicators show the average for the 90 days and the average from the past seven days. At the very bottom, there are options to view Menstrual tracking info, journal entries, challenges, and workouts if any of those occurred in the 90 days shown to give you a complete picture of what you were doing during that time frame so you can do it again and setback to being your best.
Explore view for Time Machine: The default view for the explore feature is the current month. From there you can go backward in time to see your trends. You can also toggle over to the Year view which shows the whole year if available. The background color of the days changes depending on the value from green (most positive) to yellow, to red (least positive). The drop down will let you switch between the different explore options.
How can I use the Goals feature?
Active goals are displayed on the main screen of the Goals section — the icon on the card changes when you are on an active streak for that goal. When you achieve the goal for that day/week, the grey shape turns to the green outline. Your active streaks are displayed on the middle tab as well as on the Home Screen (coming soon).
Goals can be created from a preselected set, or you can create your own and get reminders to complete your goals(s).
How does the Menstrual Tracking Calendar work?
The main screen features a monthly calendar that shows your last period and your estimated ovulation day as well as the day your next period is expected to begin. Below that information is a key for the icons on the calendar. The purple floating button will let you add additional data. You can log two types of data: your flow (light, medium, heavy, or cycle has ended) and menstrual symptoms. You can only check one of the option to describe your menstruation flow. You can check multiple symptoms. Menstrual cycle data is mapped on a graph from the start point of cycle and end point of the cycle. This can then be compared with and correlated with Sleep, Weight, Exercise, Mood, etc…to see how it is affecting other aspects of your life.
How do the Tribes work?
Tribes are safe, uplifting communities and social circles that support healthy behaviors and physical movements. Happy, healthy lifestyle modifications and living an optimal life are contagious. Like and encourage others. Share helpful hints and techniques.
“My Tribes” is a way for you to see the tribes you belong to and “All Tribes” are all the tribe communities that exist, public and private. You can create a new tribe by clicking the plus icon (upper right corner). “Feed” are where users of your tribes post encouragements, accomplishments and information. Each tribe category has the name, a short description, and the number of users in that tribe. Private tribes are marked with a purple icon for the number of people in the tribe and a purple lock icon. Users can be invited to join a private tribe via username or email.
Some tribes will also display the user’s Fitness Score under their username. The tribe name and number of users is shown in the dark green bar. The “i” icon will take the user to a page with Tribe Info (description, tribe members). The add a person icon in the top right corner will take the user to the “Add Friends” screen seen on the previous slide. The floating plus button will take you to a screen where you can write and add your post to the tribe.
